WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – WWNY announces several on-air changes which our viewers will notice starting March 30th.
Makenzie Piatt(WWNY)MAKENZIE PIATT
After recently becoming a mother, Makenzie is accepting a position outside of television news but will stay in the North Country with her family. Makenzie is celebrating her 9th year with WWNY as our morning anchor, which requires getting to the tv station at an early hour and battling winter weather at its worst. The WWNY family is sad to see Makenzie leave, but we understand and support her decision, and we’re grateful she will remain part of the North Country.
Les Shockley(WWNY)LES SHOCKLEY
Les will become our new anchor of 7News This Morning alongside Beth Hall. Les is starting his 11th year with WWNY, serving in many roles, but most recently did an outstanding job anchoring the morning news while Makenzie was out on maternity leave last summer. WWNY is fortunate to have Les as part of our team, who can be on-air and is very talented when it comes to understanding the technology that keeps us on the air. Les will also produce and anchor 7News at Noon with co-anchors Diane Rutherford and Beth Hall. Les will also be launching a live digital show at 9am on our website called, “It’s LIVE, It’s LOCAL, It’s LES!”
Garrett Domblewski(WWNY)GARRETT DOMBLEWSKI
7News announces Garrett will become anchor of First at Five on WWNY after the semi-retirement of current anchor John Moore. Garrett is in his 10th year at WWNY and has spent most of that time anchoring 7NEWS newscasts at 10pm on FOX28 and 11pm on WWNY. Garrett also serves as WWNY’s Assistant News Director.
Chad Charette(WWNY)CHAD CHARETTE
Chad is being promoted to anchor on 7News Tonight at 10pm on FOX28 and 11pm on WWNY. Chad is coming up on his 4th year at WWNY and is best known for his great storytelling abilities as a reporter during the week and can be seen anchoring WWNY’s Saturday weekend newscasts online and on-air. While Chad will anchor the late-night broadcasts, he will also serve as a night-side reporter for WWNY.
Elizabeth Gabbert(WWNY)ELIZABETH GABBERT
WWNY welcomes Elizabeth to the newsroom, adding a news producer for 7NEWS at 10 pm on FOX28 and 11 pm on WWNY. Elizabeth comes to the North Country from Nashville, where she also worked as a news producer for our sister station.
John Moore(WWNY)JOHN MOORE
As previously announced, John is semi-retiring from WWNY and stepping down as anchor of First at Five. However, John will still report for us a couple of days a week and be based in St. Lawrence County.
