• Wow. Vladar left his night to retrieve a puck wrapping around the boards. It took a funny hop and landed right in front of the net. However, Chinakhov can’t get a stick on the bouncing puck.
• Outside of the one play that led to Novak’s goal, the Penguins’ power play has been brutal tonight.
• PENALTY: Dvorak called for slashing. Hit Rakell’s stick over the top on a shot attempt. Time: 3:54.
• Chinakhov gets a chance early in the period to put the Penguins back in front, wide open look in front of Vladar, but his shot sails high and wide.
• The puck drops for the third period. Here we go.
• End of the second period. These 20 minutes were much more back and forth. Penguins hold an advantage in shots, 15-10. No penalties carrying over. One more period to go. Tied, 3-3
• Dewar gets a breakaway near the end of the penalty kill, but Vladar rejects it. No shorty for Dewar. Game still tied.
• PENALTY: Letang steps up to make a hit, misses, giving a breakaway the other way. He gets called for a slash. Skinner bails out Letang with a save. Flyers to the power play.
• GOAL: Barkey. A failed breakout by Letang turns the puck over and the Flyers once again capitalize. Assists: Michkov, Cates. Time: 10:03. Tied, 3-3
• Karlsson is now the 10th defenseman in NHL history with at least 13 40-point seasons.
• Flyers nearly tie it back up again. Dvorak left wide open at the top of the crease, but Skinner is able to get the pad over and make the save. 11:42 remaining in the period.
• GOAL: Penguins answer back. Back and forth we go. Off the faceoff, Karlsson rips a 92.3-mph one-timer from the left point. Assists: Chinakhov, Rakell. Time: 5:45. Penguins, 3-2
• GOAL: Flyers get it right back. Grebenkin makes a nice pass from the corner into the slot and Bump gets his first career goal in his debut. Assist: Grebenkin. Time: 4:46. Tied, 2-2
• GOAL: Rakell buries a wrister past Vladar from the high slot. Nice play that developed off the rush. Assists: Chinakhov, Rust. Time: 3:38. Penguins, 2-1
• Koivunen and Brazeau almost get two more assists, Kindel can’t bury the cross-crease pass from Brazeau. Hits off the side of the net.
• The puck drops for the second period. The Penguins have 40 seconds left on the power play.
• End of the first period. Penguins were the better team, leading in shots, 8-2. 40 minutes to go. Tied, 1-1
• PENALTY: Hayes with a huge hit on York behind the Flyers’ net. Sends him flying to the ice. Drysdale takes exception and goes after Hayes. Both have a quick fight. Drysdale also called for an additional roughing minor. Time: 18:40
• Novak is almost always in the right spot at the right time. Such a smart player.
• Penguins kill off the Brazeau minor. Four minutes and ticking in the first period.
• Clifton with back-to-back hits on the penalty kill, the second sending Zegras flying to the ice.
• PENALTY: Brazeau is called for tripping while skating hard on the forecheck. Time: 13:44
• Wotherspoon turns it over at the Flyers’ blue line, Zegras skates down the left wing with a clear shot at Skinner, but he flashes the glove to keep the game tied. Loud Stuuuuuuuu chants fill the arena.
• The Flyers smother the Penguins on the power play this time. Nothing even resembling a threat this time around, barely any zone time at all.
• PENALTY: Glendening catches Brazeau up high with a high stick. Penguins to another power play. Time: 9:12

• GOAL: Hayes tries to make a slick no-look, between-the-legs pass on the break out but winds up turning it over. Flyers capitalize as Tippett buries a pass from Zegras. Assists: Zegras, York. Time: 3:54. Tied, 1-1
