Inter Miami defeated DC United 2-1 in the MLS, with Lionel Messi playing a decisive role with a brilliant goal. Inter Miami built a two-goal lead in the first half through Rodrigo De Paul and Messi, controlling possession and setting the pace of the match in Baltimore.
DC United tried to respond after the break and gradually increased the pressure in the attacking third. Their persistence paid off when Tai Baribo scored from close range after a rebound, cutting the deficit and giving the home side hope late in the match.
Despite the late push from DC United, Inter Miami stayed compact defensively and managed the final minutes to secure the victory. The result gives the Herons their second win of the 2026 MLS season as they continue climbing the Eastern Conference standings.
