Alistair Johnston celebrating at Ibrox
Beaming Alistair Johnston watched Celtic dump Rangers out of the Scottish Cup from the Broomloan Stand before triggering an epic party on the way out of Ibrox.
While furore raged at the final whistle as both sets of supporters entered the pitch and clashed, Celtic punters remained in fine fettle after seeing off their old rivals 4-2 on penalty kicks.
The SFA condemned the scenes of chaos and sanctions are likely inbound; but those in attendance made sure to lord it over Rangers as stewards led them out of the stadium
Johnston is on the comeback trail from a serious muscle injury that required surgery. He joined pals Cameron Carter-Vickers, Arne Engels and Motherwell loanee Stephen Welsh watching the game among the 7,500-strong travelling fans.
Fellow Celtic legends Joe Hart and Stan Petrov were also among the punters in the Broomloan. But it was Johnston who stepped up and delivered the victory dance to jubilant fans as they left Danny Rohl and his sorry players singing the blues.
The 28-year-old is expected to be back in contention after the international break with standout loanee Julian Araujo impressing amid Johnston’s absence.
