The Steelers will reportedly lose starting LG Isaac Seumalo when the new league year begins. Their plan is to replace him with a veteran, according to Gerry Dulac. The veteran insider Tweeted this evening that they are expected to sign a veteran starting guard, though he offered no names.
The Steelers next move in free agency is expected to be a starting veteran guard to replace Isaac Seumalo.

Seumalo was the veteran starting guard the Steelers signed in free agency three years ago. Brought in on a three-year, $24 million contract, he had a successful stint here but now they need another option. Seumalo has reportedly agreed to terms on a new deal with the Cardinals worth $31.5 million over three years.
Internally, the Steelers’ best option to replace Seumalo is Spencer Anderson. A fourth-year veteran, he has several starts as a backup, mostly at left guard. Pittsburgh also has four Day 2 draft picks, which would be a good spot at which to add competition.
Some of the top available guards the Steelers might consider to replace Isaac Seumalo are in the AFC North. The Browns will see significant turnover in the trenches, with Wyatt Teller, 32, already saying his farewells. Joe Bitonio, 35, is contemplating his future, but might return to Cleveland.
The Steelers have a young offensive line now, with Seumalo, 33, by far the oldest. It remains to be seen how old they are willing to go to fill the void, but their priority is likely building the strongest possible unit for 2026. With new OL coach James Campen in tow, he may have a big influence here.
One things the Steelers will not lack for in replacing Isaac Seumalo is options. If they want to continue to avoid the compensatory penalties of signing unrestricted free agents, they could look at Alex Cappa, recently released by the Raiders. He’s not exactly a young pup, but you limit your options if you play the formula.
Regardless of what happens, Pittsburgh needs depth. For the time being, the departure of Seumalo leaves the Steelers’ offensive line room thin. Temporarily, it moves Spencer Anderson into a starting role, leaving no strong backup guard option. Broderick Jones’ health also clouds the situation, promoting Dylan Cook to starter with no clear backup. Ryan McCollum is a solid backup center, but they would prefer a different option for guard.
Even if the Steelers sign a veteran starter to replace Seumalo, they will still likely use at least one draft pick, if not more, to address the offensive line. Under Omar Khan, they have drafted five so far, though none a year ago. Four—or temporarily, all five—could constitute the 2026 starting lineup, including the there drafted in 2024.
