Newswatch 16 found folks at Beltzville State Park in Carbon County, where people were taking full advantage of the warm-up.
LEHIGHTON, Pa. — As the sun makes an appearance, people are lacing up their walking shoes and getting outside.
At Beltzville State Park in Franklin Township near Lehighton, the ice-covered lake is a reminder that winter isn’t completely in the past just yet.
“I was surprised, I thought there would be no ice, but there’s ice, but that’s ok. We’re supposed to have another nice day tomorrow. I’m grateful for that,” said Claudia Uelses, Bath.
The Stormtracker 16 Team says temperatures broke records reaching into the 70’s.
After a long, cold winter, people say they’ve been waiting for a break from the cold, dreary days.
“Just a beautiful day out and we’re taking the dogs out on a walk,” said Brandon Kotara, Palmerton.
“I love to stop here because it’s so peaceful and beautiful, nature so close to nature,” said Uelses.
Visitors at Beltzville State Park say the weather in March can be unpredictable
So you have to take advantage of the nice days when they come around.
“I mean, it’s still March, so I’m kind of used to it. I’ve been out here my whole life, pretty much, so and we also had a really bad winter, so it’s nice,” said Kotara.
“It’s refreshing, yes, the weather is comfortable, and it’s a little warm walking today, but other than that, we’re glad to be out,” said Joan Gallue, Lehighton.
Visitors say they’re counting down the days until the official start of the spring season.
