WASHINGTON (TNND) — Since February 28, over 43,000 Americans have safely returned to the United States from the Middle East after the start of Operation Epic Fury.
The State Department announced that they have assisted nearly 30,000 Americans directly through its task force.
On Monday, the State Department reported 36,000 Americans had safely returned to the U.S.
The department shared that it has facilitated over two dozen charter flights between the Middle East and the United States.
While charter options through the department have been made available for Americans who have requested travel assistance, the State Department says it continues to operate with less than 40% occupancy on the flights.

It also reported that many Americans who have requested assistance to return home have declined the department’s assistance when offered.
