As one of the more commercially successful bands to emerge from the heyday of the early 2000s nü-metal scene, Papa Roach have some experience with the genre. In a newly posted video below, the band’s members individually reveal their personal choices for the best nü-metal song of all time.

Papa Roach themselves of course penned a nü-metal staple in the 6x platinum “Last Resort“. That 2001 single went on to catapult the Californian group to prominence and continues to connect with audiences, having entered Spotify‘s 1 billion streams club in October of 2023.

The band’s frontman Jacoby Shaddix for his part offered, “I’d be biased and say “Last Resort” by Papa Roach, but I’ll give it to Limp Bizkit “Break Stuff“‘. Bassist Tobin Esperance instead opted for Korn‘s early genre classic “Blind“, offering, “the first time I heard that opening intro to “Blind” I was like, ‘Oh sh*t, this is something that I haven’t heard before.’

Drummer Tony Palermo chose “My Own Summer (Shove It)” from Deftones‘ sophomore album “Around The Fur“. And yes, he was aware of the controversy of labeling Deftones nü-metal. Palermo stated: “I know Deftones don’t like to be coined as nü-metal, but ‘Shove It‘ is up there. Guitarist Jerry Horton however had no shame in his game, instantly settling on his own band’s “Last Resort“.
