The Dallas Wings and their fans followed the whispers for months. Speculation reached a peak when shooting guard Azzi Fudd posted a mirror selfie in June 2025. The phone case on display literally gave a hint about the identity of her partner.
During the WNBA All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis, Paige Bueckers decided to break the ice. On July 17, the Dallas star participated in a trivia segment for WAG Talk. When asked to reveal her girlfriend at the end of the segment, she smiled and named “Azzi Fudd”.
Bueckers took part in a fun trivia game called “How well do you know your D1 girlfriend?” During the game, the reporter asked her several questions about her girlfriend, and Paige answered them correctly. She said her girlfriend went to St. John’s, won Gatorade Player of the Year in 2019, and has a phone case that says “Paige Bueckers’ girlfriend.” At the end of the game, the reporter asked Bueckers to reveal the name she was talking about.
The duo first met at a USA Basketball camp in 2017 and have been inseparable since that time. They officially became teammates on June 11, 2017, for the USA Basketball U16 National Team in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Fudd, the top recruit for the Class of 2021, frequently supported the Wings from the courtside seats. She often wore a No. 5 jersey while watching the action. Their first collegiate game occurred at Gampel Pavilion on Nov. 21, 2021. The two athletes held hands at a Wings road game during the summer. Bueckers acts as a stylist for Fudd and encourages her to embrace bold clothing.
“I think when it comes to fashion, I feel like I tap into my creative side a little bit,” Bueckers said in an August episode of Close Friends Only with Instagram.
Regarding their spectacular shooting tactics, Bueckers said her own style is creative, while Fudd uses superior form.
“You’re so compact and like compact like everything is like perfect,” Bueckers said. She described her own shots as side faders or step backs.
Fudd described the qualities she admired most in Bueckers:
“Oh, you’re super giving, and I like how you always make sure to put others first, and sometimes, as you put yourself first, but so I love how you take care of people around you and those who matter most to super loyal.”
Before starting her tenure with the Wings, Bueckers and Fudd helped the UConn Huskies clinch their 12th NCAA National Championship on April 6. They defeated South Carolina 82-59 in the title game held in Tampa.
Bueckers, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, had a spectacular rookie tenure. The selection took place at The Shed at Hudson Yards in New York City. She joined a prominent lineage of stars, including Maya Moore and Breanna Stewart. Over 36 games, she averaged 19.2 points and 5.4 assists. She won the 2025 Rookie of the Year accolade after scoring 24 points in her final game against the Phoenix Mercury.
To keep in touch with Fudd while she remains in school, Bueckers will use virtual reality headsets.
