There’s nothing like raising a dog to remind you to stop and appreciate the little things. To them, every walk is an adventure, and every squirrel they encounter is amazing — and so is every large stick they happen to find along the way. They see all the beauty in the things we might otherwise miss, and apparently, lizards fall into that category, too.

At least, they do for one dog, a Golden Retriever named Summit who could sit and watch lizards do their thing if he had his way.

This footage from @bakerbarnes on TikTok gets up close and personal with a dog named Summit’s latest interest: Anything and everything the lizards he finds outside are doing.

It’s amazing how he manages to put his face so close to these lizards so he can study them without also scaring them, and now, they’re his new obsession.

His human wrote in the video that watching them is “all he wants to do,” but personally, I don’t see a problem with that when his interest is this adorable!

“God forbid a dog has hobbies,” one commenter wrote, while another joked, “The lizards are not running away because they can sense there isn’t a single thought in his head.”

According to previous videos that Summit’s humans have shared, it’s not just lizards he’s fascinated by — it’s any tiny creature in general.

Considering how active this dog is usually, I’m not sure if I’m more impressed with his ability to sit still while he’s observing these creatures, or how he somehow innately understands that he needs to be calm and gentle around them.

Along with lizards, Summit has also shown that he loves birds, bees, snails, dragonflies, and even koi fish. It seems like he just wants to learn about all the animals out there.

In the caption, his parents called him “the gentlest giant,” and it’s hard to disagree. While some of these small animals might be a little scared of him due to the size difference between them, they have no real reason to be — he seems very harmless and just a little extra curious.

Summit deserves all the tiny friends his heart could want!
