HONOLULU (Island News) – Crews with the Hawaiian Electric Company (HECO) are responding to multiple power outages reported across Hawaii as a storm continues across the state on Thursday.

As of 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, HECO reported that approximately 690 customers in the Waipio area are without power. Along with approximately 1,360 customers in the Mililani area being left in the dark.

At 9:40 a.m., it was later reported that power had been restored to all affected Mililani residents.

It was reported at 8:20 a.m. that power was restored to a majority of customers in the Waipio area, however approximately 20 customers remain in the dark until crews safely complete inspections. An estimated restore time for Waipio is 2:30 p.m., according to HECO.

Crews restored power to all customers in Waimea at 10:10 a.m., after previously reporting that approximately 290 customers were without power.

HECO confirmed that these outages are not part of its Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS).
