GOODYEAR, AZ (AZFamily) — It’s been unseasonably hot, and with nearly a week of First Alert Weather Days in the forecast, one West Valley ballpark is delaying start times because of forecast high temperatures.
Goodyear Ballpark announced that two games for next Friday and Saturday will be moved to “ensure a safer and more comfortable experience for fans, players and staff.”
As of Friday afternoon, the games impacted are:
Friday, March 20 – Seattle Mariners at Cleveland GuardiansSaturday, March 21 – Chicago White Sox at Cincinnati Reds
First pitch will now be at 6:05 p.m. on both days.
Ballpark officials said the MLB Ballpark app should automatically update with the new game time and that no ticket exchanges are necessary.
Gates will open at 4:30 p.m., and anyone with questions about their ticket may reach out to the ticket office by emailing tickets@goodyearaz.gov.
Goodyear Ballpark is reminding fans that they should stay hydrated before arriving and to drink water during the game. Attendees are also told to wear sunscreen and hats, and to take breaks in shaded areas.
Guests are allowed to bring a 1-liter sealed water bottle and one empty reusable water bottle to refill at water stations throughout the stadium.
Fans are also told to keep checking GoodyearBP.com and Goodyear Ballpark’s social media for updates as spring training schedules and weather conditions change.
