Years after the actor and rocker collaborated on a Tenacious D song, “Jack Gray” will come together again on the show’s April 4 episode
“Jack Gray” is back: Jack Black and Jack White will come together next month as host and musical guest of Saturday Night Live.
SNL announced their guest line up for the April 4 episode during the Harry Styles-double duty episode, with Black set to host for the fifth time (and thus joining the Five Timers Club) and White making his sixth appearance as musical guest; once as a member of the White Stripes, and five times as a solo artist.
Black returned to SNL last season in 2025, his first time back hosting the show since 2005. White last served as musical guest on SNL in 2023, but he did appear during the SNL50: The Homecoming Concert last year.

After years of the Jacks being the focus of corny jokes because of their color-contrasting last names, the two artists finally linked up in 2019, much to the internet’s delight, when Black’s Tenacious D rolled into White’s Third Man Studios in Nashville to record “Don’t Blow It, Kage” alongside the rocker.
“This is a legendary collab. The D with Jack Black. Everyone’s been waiting for it. Now it’s here,” Black said in a social media post about the collaboration at the time. Black also referred to the duo as “Jack Gray,” a gag that will likely resurface when Black and White hit SNL on April 4.
