Emergency responders and healthcare providers are hosting a free community event this week for local residents.

The Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad and Middletown Township will hold a Community Health Fair on Thursday, March 19, at the Middletown Township Municipal Center at 3 Municipal Way.

The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., is open to the public and features a series of educational presentations beginning at noon.

The fair comes as Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad officials project an increase in service volume for 2026. The squad responds to approximately 7,400 calls annually.

“The leadership of Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad believes that community outreach such as organizing a health fair is essential in EMS,” said Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad Lt. Andrew Foley. “Our goal is to build trust, improve health outcomes, and enhance emergency response by providing education and hands-on training to the members of the communities we serve.”

Foley said the organization aims to establish EMS as a “key public health partner rather than just a transport service.”

Several regional healthcare providers will be on-site, including St. Mary Medical Center, Jefferson Health, Capital Health, and Lower Bucks Hospital.

The event will offer various clinical screenings and safety demonstrations at no cost to residents, including free prostate cancer screenings (advance registration required), free blood pressure screenings, bleeding control demonstrations, and hands-only CPR training and ambulance tours.

Foley stated that health fairs improve accessibility by residents to local hospitals and provide early detection for diseases, including cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.

“Early detection helps improve treatment success rates, extend lifespans, and reduces the need for invasive treatments,” Foley said.

In addition to hospital systems, community resources will be represented by the Bucks County Health Improvement Partnership (BCHIP), the Bucks County Department of Health, and Middletown Township Department of Fire and Emergency Services. The rescue squad will also provide information regarding its “File of Life” program and subscription fund drive.

The family-friendly event will include free snacks and beverages for attendees.
