Manchester United prospect Ethan Williams is still celebrating getting on the scoresheet for the club.
Good luck telling Ethan Williams that his first goal for Manchester United was not an official one. The young prospect was overjoyed to net in pre-season in the 4-1 win against Bournemouth.
Speaking after the friendly win in the USA, Williams admitted he was stunned to get on the scoresheet.
He told MUTV: “Yeah it’s mad, it’s mad… I can’t believe it. It still hasn’t really sunk in to be honest, it’s a dream come true and bro I am just so happy right now for real.”

Ethan Williams posted a message on Instagram to celebrate his strike, happy to play a part in the team’s victory.
Williams curled in a shot midway through the second half, just one minute after being substituted on.
He posted: “Forever grateful❤️ Top win from the team and happy to score my first goal!”
Williams’ message was inundated with responses from Manchester United first team and academy teammates past and present. Here are a few collated below.
Patrick Dorgu: Yes bro❤️Maxi Oyedele: love itDan Gore: 🔥🔥Harry Maguire: Well done mate 👏Finley McAllister: Mint ❤️Mateo Mejia: 🔥🔥🔥Ethan Wheatley: ❤️Ethan Williams strike adds to positivity
Ethan Williams’ goal was the fourth in Manchester United’s victory, and it was the icing on the cake in the win. Rasmus Hojlund, Patrick Dorgu and Amad scored the first three goals.
The strike was the first from a Manchester United academy player this pre-season, with Bruno Fernandes scoring the goals in the preceding game.
There is a good buzz about Ruben Amorim’s side right now, and Williams’ goal adds to it. He is making a name for himself, backing claims from his former loan boss that he was good enough to make an impact.
Chances will be more scarce due to a lack of European football, but Williams can be an impact player from the bench. The next step is to follow up his Bournemouth goal in upcoming games against Everton and Fiorentina to round out pre-season.
