De’Anthony Melton loves being a Warrior, but even he doesn’t know what his future holds with the organization.

Coming off ACL surgery in December 2024, Melton signed a two-year, $6.5 million contract to return to the Warriors last offseason, which includes a $3.45 million player option for the 2026-27 NBA season.

Given the way he has stepped up and performed for Golden State throughout an up-and-down, injury-riddled season for the Warriors, he is expected to decline his option and become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Melton spoke about his uncertain future in a recent appearance on 95.7 The Game’s “Willard & Dibs.”

“Man, the future is only what the future can hold. You know what I mean?” Melton said. “I just try to take it day by day at this point, because you never know what could happen and you never know what tomorrow holds. Especially given my career, and what’s happened, I just try to wake up the next day and see what’s going on and see how my life is feeling and moving around.”

Melton first joined the Warriors for the 2024-25 season but played just six games before suffering a season-ending ACL injury and later being traded to the Brooklyn Nets.

In six games (two starts), Melton averaged 10.3 points on 40.7-percent shooting from the field and 37.1 percent from 3-point range, with 3.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.2 steals in 20.2 minutes.

Less than one year later, Melton and Golden State reunited.

And Melton picked up where he left off.

With injuries to star players such as Jimmy Butler and Steph Curry, Melton has been a saving grace for the Warriors. Since making his season debut in early December, he is averaging 13.1 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 22.8 minutes through 38 games (14 starts).

While Melton doesn’t know what the future might hold, he answered another question with more certainty.

Could you see yourself with the Warriors next season?

“I mean, of course. Of course,” he said. “I feel like I’ve expressed countless times how much I love Golden State, from the medical staff to the actual staff to the front office to the players that have been here. So I think that love is definitely out there.

“But at the end of the day, I just take it day by day and see how it goes.”
