MONTEVALLO, Ala. (WBRC) – Alabama’s official celebration marking America’s 250th birthday is coming to Montevallo’s American Village.
Sweet Home 250: Where Freedom Feels Like Home is set for July 3 and 4 and will features music, history, food, art and family-friendly experiences.
“Sweet Home 250 represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to bring Alabamians together in celebration of our nation’s 250th anniversary,” said Natalie Steed, Executive Officer at Alabama USA Semiquincentennial Commission. “We are proud to present an event that honors our history while inspiring future generations.”
Musical performances will feature Alabama artists including Blind Boys, Taylor Hicks, Myles Morgan and more while historians, authors and costumed interpreters give engaging perspective on the country’s past.
There will also be chef demonstrations, food competitions, battle reenactments art exhibitions and six performances by Perondi’s All-Star Stunt Dogs.
The two-day festival will end with a firework show over Independence Hall on July 4.
