Temperatures will push the 90 degree mark Sunday across our area.
While some areas already saw record high temperatures Saturday afternoon, most of us will experience record heat on Sunday.
Overnight lows will dip into the upper 50s and low 60s, but an abundance of sunshine Sunday will bring us warmer temperatures. High’s Sunday afternoon are expected to soar into the upper 80s, with some spots possibly touching 90 degrees. This is well above our average high of just 68 degrees for this time of year. The all-time record high in Tupelo for Sunday is just 83 degrees.
During the afternoon Sunday, the wind will begin to pick up ahead of a cold front that will move through Sunday night, into Monday morning. This won’t bring us any precipitation, but some of us could see wind gusts up to 30 mph Sunday afternoon. The front will also provide us with some relief from the heat as we will struggle to get into the 70’s Monday afternoon.
