OAK CREEK, Wis. (WLUC) – The first peregrine falcon egg of the season has been laid at the Oak Creek Power Plant in Wisconsin.
A press release from We Energies says proud parents Essity and Joel are watching over the new arrival. This is their second year together.
The release says more eggs should be laid over the next few days, and if all goes well, chicks should arrive in little over a month.
We Energies and Wisconsin Public Service have been installing peregrine falcon nest boxes at power plants since the early 1900s to support the species’ recovery in Wisconsin. The release says since then, 465 peregrine falcons have hatched at company facilities, representing 20% of all peregrine falcons born in the state.
You can stay up to date on the peregrine falcons on X, Facebook and Instagram, or follow the action live on their nest box cams all season long.
