Arthur Fils recorded a dominant 55-minute win on Sunday at the Miami Open presented by Itau, where he cruised past Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-0, 6-1 to advance to the fourth round in South Florida for the second consecutive year.
“That’s one of the best matches I’ve ever played,” Fils said following his win. “I have played some great matches before, but this level was insane. I don’t know what to say, but very happy with the performance.”
Tsitsipas, a former World No. 3, had reached the third round after upsetting fifth seed Alex de Minaur. But Fils proved too strong and dictated throughout the 55 minutes with his clean hitting and capitalised on 28 unforced errors from the Greek. Fils won 89 per cent (16/18) of his first-serve points and saved both break points he faced, according to Infosys ATP Stats.
The 21-year-old Frenchman has been in strong form since returning from a back injury that led him to end his 2025 season following Toronto. He made his return to the Tour in Montpellier last month and has since reached the final in Doha and the quarter-finals at Indian Wells.
“I am fully back,” Fils said. “It feels like I never left. It feels very, very good.”
With his third-round victory, Fils improved to 5-0 in his Lexus ATP Head2Head series against Tsitsipas and became the first Frenchman to reach the fourth round in Miami in consecutive years since Gael Monfils in 2015-16.
The Frenchman will face 2025 Rolex Shanghai Masters champion Valentin Vacherot in the fourth round.
Vacherot continued his Miami run by defeating Matteo Berrettini 7-6(5), 6-4 in their third-round clash. With his one-hour, 31-minute triumph against the former No. 6 in the PIF ATP Rankings, Vacherot recorded his 10th tour-level win of the season. The Monegasque player owned just one ATP Masters 1000 match win entering Shanghai last year. Vacherot has now reached the Round of 16 at three of his four Masters 1000 events since.
