James Hagens signed an AHL amateur tryout agreement with the Bruins on Monday.
The 19-year-old center, who was selected with the No. 7 pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, will join the Providence Bruins for their team practice on Tuesday.
“We’re very excited to have James join the Bruins organization and take this next step,” Bruins general manager Don Sweeney said. “James is an important part of our future, and this is a great opportunity for him to get immediate experience at the professional level in Providence and continue his development while keeping all options open.”
Hagens led Boston College in goals (23), assists (24) and points (47) in 34 games as a sophomore this season. He had 37 points (11 goals, 26 assists) in 37 games as a freshman in 2024-25.
The Bruins (39-23-8) currently hold the first wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Eastern Conference.
