Gavi has opened up on Barcelona’s rivalry with Real Madrid ahead of the start of the 2025-26 La Liga season.

Barca beat Real Madrid every single time they played them last season as Los Blancos ended the campaign empty-handed.

Gavi says that there’s no doubt Madrid will be worried about Barca ahead of the new campaign.

“Of course they were worried. It was four out of four, and that’s never happened before. And it’s understandable that they’re worried,” he told AS.

“In the end, we were spectacular last season and they didn’t win anything. This year they’ve reinforced themselves with some very good players, to be honest, but we’ll see what they’ll do this season.

“They have a great team, but we have to be ourselves, and that’s it.”

Real Madrid have since strengthened by splashing out on Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen, Alvaro Carreras and Franco Mastantuono and will start the season under new management after Alonso succeeded Carlo Ancelotti.
