Canterbury Green announces closure of golf course, Birdies Bar & Grill

  • March 27, 2026

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – One month after Fort Wayne’s largest apartment complex was sold for over $200 million, the new owners have announced they are closing two major amenities.

In an email to Canterbury Green residents on Thursday, apartment managers say they have decided to close the golf course and Birdies Bar & Grill as part of the new acquisition.

The golf course and restaurant were open to both residents and members of the public.

“We understand that these spaces have been enjoyed by many in the community, and we recognize the role they have played in your experience as a resident,” the email reads.

The apartment complex’s management team wrote that the decision was “not made lightly,” saying they are looking into other ways to “bring added value” to the apartments.

You can read their full message below.

“Dear Residents,

We hope this message finds you well. We are writing to share an important update regarding the Canterbury Green community amenities.

As part of our recent acquisition of the property, we have made the decision to close the Canterbury Green golf course and Birdies Bar & Grill. We understand that these spaces have been enjoyed by many in the community, and we recognize the role they have played in your experience as a resident.

This decision was not made lightly. As we evaluate the long-term vision for the property, our goal is to ensure that all amenities align with the needs of our residents and the overall direction of the community. While the golf course and restaurant will no longer be in operation, we are actively exploring future opportunities for the space that will bring added value and enhance your living experience.

As we transition into the summer season, we’re excited to introduce food trucks and fun community events to create new opportunities for residents to gather and enjoy the community.

We truly appreciate your understanding during this transition. As plans develop, we will be sure to keep you informed and share updates along the way.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to the leasing office.

Thank you for being a valued part of the Canterbury Green community.”

In early February, Morgan Properties bought Canterbury Green from Osso and GoldOller for $207.7 million. The 2,000-unit complex was built between 1969 and 1978.
