BREAKING NEWS. FIREFIGHTERS ARE ON THE SCENE RIGHT NOW OF AN EARLY MORNING HOUSE FIRE IN THE JACOBS NEIGHBORHOOD. WE HAVE LEARNED TWO PEOPLE WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. IT’S HAPPENING ON TAYLOR AVENUE. THIS IS SOUTH OF CHURCHILL DOWNS. THAT’S WHERE WE FIND OUR SAM CARTER THIS MORNING. SAM, YOU’VE BEEN ON SCENE SINCE ABOUT 5:00 THIS MORNING, AND YOU FOUND OUT A LOT OF INFORMATION. WHAT’S HAPPENING RIGHT NOW? WELL, A VERY DRAMATIC SCENE HERE ON AVENUE WALKS. WE CAN GET CLOSER TO THIS HOUSE. IT ALL CENTERS AROUND THIS HOUSE HERE WITH THIS TREE. AND YOU CAN SEE THAT WINDOW KIND OF BLOWN OUT THERE THAT PLAYS A CRITICAL ROLE IN THIS STORY. TWO PEOPLE OF THE EIGHT LIVING HERE HAD TO EXIT THAT WINDOW AND JUMP FROM THAT WINDOW TO THE GROUND TO ESCAPE THIS FIRE. NOW, THEY WERE BOTH TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL WITH WHAT WE’RE TOLD ARE ANKLE INJURIES. THEY ARE EXPECTED TO MAKE A FULL RECOVERY. NO ONE ELSE WAS INJURED IN THIS FIRE. NOW, WHILE THE CAUSE IS UNDER INVESTIGATION, FIREFIGHTERS DO BELIEVE THAT THE FIRE STARTED IN THE BASEMENT. AS FOR FIREFIGHTERS, NONE OF THEM WERE INJURED, BUT THEY WERE ABLE TO ARRIVE UNDER FIVE MINUTES AFTER THE CALL AND WERE ABLE TO QUICKLY GET THE FIRE KNOCKED DOWN. BUT AS YOU CAN SEE, THE DAMAGE DONE TO THIS HOUSE. LET’S REVIEW TWO PEOPLE INJURED. MINOR INJURIES THOUGH THEY ARE EXPECTED TO MAKE A FULL RECOVERY, BUT EIGHT PEOPLE ARE DISPLACED THIS MORNING. A FIRE THAT STARTED IN THE BASEMENT NOW IN THE INVESTIGATION STAGE, WE’RE GOING TO HAVE MORE INFORMATION AS IT BECOMES AVAILABLE.
