No one has supported Bronny James more than his dad, LeBron Sr. The elder James has always been Bronny’s biggest fan, and after he was drafted into the NBA, no one was prouder than LeDad.

Not only did they become the first father-and-son teammates, but Bronny’s making the league was arguably LeBron’s biggest achievement.

However, while LeBron always has Bronny’s back, he did not agree with his son’s recent statement that he broke the backboard of their house basketball court after losing to his junior in a one-on-one game. However, he admitted to breaking the backboard in their former Miami home.

”I had a hoop in our driveway, and I drove around him and dunked it,” LeBron said following the Lakers’ win over the Washington Wizards on Monday. “I didn’t mean to shatter the glass, but yeah, I shattered it.”

Bronny was 6-10 years old when that game took place

The James gang lived in South Beach when LeBron played for the Miami Heat. Since this period was 2010-2014, Bronny was between six and ten years old when the alleged one-on-one game took place.

Meanwhile, many say that Miami LeBron was the best version ever of “King James.” Therefore, it was almost unbelievable that Bronny, especially at that age, would have beaten his dad in a 1-v-1 game. LeBron Sr. revealed what really happened.

“He made a couple of shots. But that’s like Miami’ Bron,'” James Sr. said. “That’s like ‘Invincible ‘Bron.’ It’s not like he was about to win.”

However, while he denied that Bronny had beaten him that day, LeBron revealed a new detail about the story. After breaking the backboard, father and son never played against one another in that house because he never replaced the shattered backboard.

“I did not mean to shatter that. I had to buy another one, s–t. Bron, did I even buy another hoop? I don’t think I did.” LeBron added. “That was it.”

Bronny claimed that he beat his dad, and LeBron broke the backboard

It can be recalled that after the Lakers’ win over the Brooklyn Nets last Friday, when LeBron Sr. became the first father to record an assist in an NBA regular-season game to his son, Bronny told the story of the last time he played his pops in a game of 1-v-1.

“I mean, the last time I played him one-on-one, I don’t know if this story just came out, but he broke a backboard at our house in Miami,” Bronny said in a locker room post-game interview video posted by ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.

Austin Reaves, who was sitting next to Bronny in the locker room, then asked: “It was ’cause you won?”

Bronny nodded, laughing.

“Yeah, you can say that. Don’t leave that out,” AR added.

LeBron and Bronny played meaningful minutes together in that Nets game, with both Sr. and Jr. scoring buckets during their four-plus minutes together on the basketball court. The James duo also played together for a significant stretch during the Lake Show’s win over the Washington Wizards last Monday.

While Pops recorded a triple-double and broke his own record of being the oldest player to record a triple-double, Bronny struggled on 2-10 shooting while finishing with six points and two turnovers. But as LeBron has always said, it’s not about the numbers; it’s about being able to share the NBA court with his son, which makes it special for him.
