Delaware’s Elena Delle Donne has been elected to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, according to ESPN.
The sports network reports Delle Donne, the two-time WNBA MVP, will enter the hall along with Candace Parker, Amare Stoudemire and former Sixers coach Doc Rivers.
CBS later reported that current Gonzaga coach Mark Few is also expected to be inducted in ceremonies the weekend of August 14-15 in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Delle Donne won four state high school championships with Ursuline, and is Delaware’s all-time leading basketball point scorer.
She went on to lead the University of Delaware to their first ever NCAA Tournament victory in 2012, and followed that up with a run to the Sweet 16 in 2013.
Delle Donne also won a WNBA title with the Washington Mystics in 2019, one of her two MVP seasons. She was the first player to win MVP on two different teams, having started her career with the Chicago Sky.
She is the first Delawarean to be enshrined in the Hall.
