A 7-month-old girl was shot and killed in Brooklyn Wednesday afternoon, the NYPD said.
The shooting happened near Humboldt and Moore streets in Williamsburg around 1:20 p.m., police said.
The baby was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull after the shooting, according to police.
Law enforcement sources said police are searching for two suspects who fled on a scooter.
Asked about the baby’s death Wednesday afternoon, Mayor Zohran Mamdani called the incident “a tragedy.”
“Our heart breaks for this family,” Mamdani said.
The mayor said he and Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch will hold a briefing on the shooting later in the day.
