ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — The Hawks have won 17 of their last 19 games, in large part because of star forward Jalen Johnson. The 24-year-old was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Month for March.
Johnson averaged 22.4 points per game, 8.5 rebounds per game and 8.5 assists per game in March. He racked seven double-doubles last month, including triple-doubles on March 14 against the Milwaukee Bucks and March 16 against the Orlando Magic.
The March 16 triple-double was his 13th of the season, extending his single-season franchise record.
Johnson has become the Hawks’ main offensive engine since the team traded Trae Young to the Washington Wizards and he has proven himself to be more than up to the task. The Hawks were 18-21 prior to the trade and have gone 26-12 since.
