is clarifying a comment she made about music charts being “dead” to her and the only people who cared about them were industry people and “Taylor Swift fans.”

The “Lush Life” singer initially said she was not worried about charts and faced backlash, prompting her to issue a statement soon after.

“Playing the chart game is so dead to me. No one’s looking at the charts but industry people and maybe Taylor Swift fans,” Larsson said in an interview with The Guardian that was posted on Friday, April 3.

That same day, Larsson took to Instagram to post a statement explaining that she mentioned the “Bejeweled” singer “because no one plays the chart game like Taylor Swift lol.”

“She’s literally the best at it and everyone knows that,” she continued. “It’s not the read you guys think it is. And also… I care!!! Best believe I will try to release at least two different covers for my physical on my next project after Midnight Sun.”

Larsson explained that she said what she said because she now feels she has “some cultural value in pop music, something I’ve never had to this level, but I’m not in a position to influence charts.”

“I still think you can be an amazing artist and not chart. Those things are not mutually equal to me and shouldn’t be to any fans either,” she added.

Larsson reiterated that she would like her next album to top the charts and asked her fans to help her get there.

Larsson’s latest studio album, Midnight Sun, was released in September 2025 and includes singles such as “Pretty Ugly,” “Midnight Sun,” and “Crush.”
