Vulvodynia have opened auditions for a new vocalist. The South African deathcore/death metal band have now cycled through two attempts at filling the role in recent years. In 2023, vocalist Duncan Bentley was removed from the group following a violent altercation with drummer Thomas Hughes. Guitarist Lwandile Prusent then handled vocal duties for a stretch.

In October 2025, Vulvodynia brought in Zion Bittenbender, allowing Prusent to return to focusing on guitar. Bittenbender’s addition quickly became controversial amid resurfaced allegations of sexual misconduct and sexual assault. He denied the claims and later stepped down, stating he planned to address the allegations through legal channels. Vulvodynia formally confirmed their split with Bittenbender this past March, with Bittenbender also publicly expressing frustration with how the separation was handled.

In their new call for auditions, the band’s ask is straightforward: they’re requesting applicants submit a cover of a song of their choice from the group’s 2024 album Entabeni.
