HOUGHTON & HANCOCK, Mich. (WLUC) – UP Health System – Portage announced Wednesday that three retail pharmacies will transition to another owner.
UP Health System – Portage has announced an agreement to transition ownership of Portage Apothecary, retail pharmacies currently owned by UP Health System – Portage, to Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center.
A press release from UPHS – Portage says patients and community members will continue to have access to pharmacy services without interruption, and this transition will include the two retail pharmacy locations and the nursing home pharmacy. It goes on to say there are no plans to change current staffing or hours of operation, and Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center plans to hire all current employees, pending standard employee screenings.
The release says both organizations are working collaboratively to ensure a seamless transition for patients, employees and the community.
“UP Health System – Portage is committed to providing high-quality, compassionate care to the communities we serve,” said Ryan Heinonen, CEO of UP Health System – Portage. “This transition allows us to maintain access to pharmacy services locally while continuing to focus on our core healthcare services.”
“Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center is proud to expand our pharmacy services and continue serving patients in the Copper Country,” said Trevor Hodges, CEO of Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center. “We are committed to ensuring a smooth transition and maintaining the high level of service patients expect.”
The release says the transition is expected to take place this summer, pending final approvals. Additional details will be shared as they become available.
