The Huskies’ shooting guard has separated herself as a co-favorite alongside Spanish center Awa Fam for the No. 1 pick, which is held by the Dallas Wings, after an outstanding senior season in which Fudd averaged a career-high 17.3 points per game and 45% from 3-point range. However, based on ESPN’s latest mock draft projection released Thursday, TCU’s Olivia Miles has usurped both Fudd and Fam as the No. 1 overall pick.
Dallas will pick first once again — the Wings selected fellow UConn alum Paige Bueckers with the No. 1 overall selection in 2025 — after posting a league-worst record for a second-straight season, leaving Curt Miller with multiple glaring deficiencies entering the WNBA Draft. The Wings and the Connecticut Sun lagged well behind the rest of the WNBA in 3-point percentage at around 30% and also posted one of the lowest assist percentages in the league.
Miles’ well-rounded skillset can help the Wings plug several holes at once. She’s shot 38% from 3-point range on around 5.5 attempts per game over the past two seasons and she ranks 16th in Division I history with 906 career assists, all while providing an elite rebounding presence.
Meanwhile, Fudd slips behind Fam to No. 3 overall in ESPN’s latest mock draft, a pick held by the Seattle Storm, which has embraced several UConn players such as Sue Bird, Breanna Stewart, Katie Lou Samuelson and Gabby Williams. ESPN cites Fudd’s poor offensive performances in UConn’s late-round NCAA Tournament games this season as a factor in her fall, as the star senior shot just 12-of-39 in UConn’s final three games and just 3-15 in the Huskies’ Final Four setback against South Carolina.
The WNBA Draft will be hosted at The Shed at Hudson Yards in New York Monday evening. It is set to begin at 7 p.m. ET and will be aired on ESPN.
