The Dallas Wings traded forward Diamond Miller to the Connecticut Sun on Thursday, making a move that freed up significant cap space.
In exchange for Miller, who was under a guaranteed contract worth $536,658, the Wings received center/forward Rayah Marshall, a 2025 second-round draft pick who is under a $277,000 unprotected rookie contract.
Dallas will save at least $259,088 with the Miller trade and could save the entire value of her contract should the team not retain Marshall after training camp.
Miller, traded last August to the Wings from the Minnesota Lynx in exchange for Dijonai Carrington, averaged 3.9 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists per contest in 15 regular season games for Dallas. The Lynx exercised Miller’s fourth-year rookie option last May before she was traded to the Wings. She was the second overall pick in the 2023 WNBA draft.
Marshall, drafted 25th overall by the Sun last year, averaged 1.7 points and 1.7 rebounds in 15 regular season appearances. She was a four-year standout at USC, helping lead the Trojans to back-to-back Elite Eight appearances in 2024 and 2025.
