The Greenville Police Department responded to Greenville Middle School Thursday, April 9, on a report of a powdery substance found in a student’s possession, according to authorities.
A media release from Chief Justin Lovvorn stated that some students reported being given the substance and ingesting it, with several experiencing mild illness or adverse reactions. Officers secured the material and requested assistance from the Montgomery Police Department to analyze it using a TruNarc device.
Results indicated the substance contained Kool-Aid ingredients mixed with sugar, and no illegal or harmful substances were detected.
The release states that there is no immediate threat to students or the public. The police department and the Butler County School Board are continuing to review the incident to determine whether any further action is warranted.
