One has to have a lot of confidence to step up and provide a serious offensive outburst to help make up for the loss of a player in the NBA’s Most Valuable Player race. And on a night with star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown on the bench, reserve guard Baylor Scheierman stepped up for his team in a major way.
The Creighton alum poured in 20 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the floor overall, including a red-hot 6-of-7 hits from beyond the arc. Asked about his night and what gave him the confidence to pull it off, he replied, “I just have a lot of confidence in myself that I belong on the court and my teammates trust me, and when I’m open they find me and I just knock it down.”

“For me, every time my name’s called, I try to go out there and play to the best of my ability,” said Scheierman of his big night. “That’s really all I can control. Obviously, I’d like to be out there, but at the end of the day it’s not my decision. So every chance I get, I just try to make the most of it.”
