An hours-long standoff in Birmingham’s Belview Heights area has ended safely, according to police.Birmingham police officers were called out to Avenue K, near Vinesville Road, for a domestic incident around 2:30 p.m. Friday.After arriving, they learned that a man had barricaded himself inside and was threatening to hurt himself and others. Everyone else inside the home was able to leave safely, according to police.The hours-long incident eventually led to the FBI and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office joining to help Birmingham police, and ended with the man walking out of the house and surrendering peacefully.There are no reports of injuries in the incident.Police said they knew there were guns in the house, which led to the large police presence, but none were used. It is unclear whether any shots were fired.The man’s name has not yet been released and any charges are unclear.
