Firefighters were on the scene for hours Sunday afternoon after a fire broke out inside multiple apartment units in Glassport, Allegheny County.Allegheny County dispatchers confirmed to Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that officials were called to the 600 block of Indiana Avenue after 1:30 p.m. following reports of a fire. We’re also told the fire is believed to have started inside one of the bottom units in one of the buildings. A white and yellow building situated next to each other is said to hold apartment units. Officials stated that multiple mayday calls have been issued for firefighters as they continue to battle flames. As of 6:30 p.m., one of the buildings appeared to partially collapse. The Allegheny County Fire Marshal and multiple units from around the area remain active on the scene. Residents in nearby homes have since been evacuated. Others are urged to avoid the area. Allegheny County dispatchers confirmed to Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that officials were called to the 600 block of Indiana Avenue after 1:30 p.m. following reports of a fire.

Firefighters on scene said a cat was rescued and taken to a vet as a result of the fire.
