Connor McCaffery announced he’s leaving Butler University in Indiana, and his girlfriend, WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark, delivered a two-word reaction.
In an April 9 Instagram post, McCaffery, 27, said he would no longer be serving as an assistant coach of the Bulldogs.
He captioned the post with, “End of an era! Forever grateful to Coach [Thad] Matta for the opportunity that he gave me. Learned a lot and worked with great people 🙏🏼 excited for what’s next !”
Clark, 24, who plays guard for the Indiana Fever, showed her support via a brief message in the post’s comments section.
“Fun times 💙,” she wrote.

It is unclear whether McCaffery has another coaching opportunity lined up, or whether a potential new job will keep him in state.
McCaffery and Clark, both University of Iowa alumni, began dating in April 2023, though they didn’t make their relationship Instagram official until later that year in August when Clark shared an Instagram carousel with two photos of the couple, captioning the post, “Best end to summer.”
They are known to openly gush about one another on social media and often share their support for each other.
In January, McCaffery wished Clark a happy birthday, writing, “Happy 24th CC,” in an Instagram tribute.
He added, “celebrating you is a privilege and I’m so grateful for the laughter and joy you bring to our everyday lives ♾️ 2026 has so much in store for you. I love you.”
