You would rarely hear about a person with a love-hate relationship with vehicles. Soon, Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders wouldn’t be one of them. No, he didn’t get into any trouble. Not today, at least. But even as he is squarely focusing on staying the primary signal caller in Berea, his driving troubles are shadowing him. The 24-year-old is taking them head-on. However, we’ve found an interesting small detail in it all.

“Slow day in the office,” Shedeur Sanders commented on a post shared by Dov Kleiman on X. We’ll come to this story later, but first, let’s spill the tea because Sanders wasn’t caught alone.
On June 17, 2025, the police pulled him over near the Ohio Turnpike bridge at 12:24 am for driving his black Dodge Ram TRX 101 mph on Interstate 71 north in Strongsville. This was 41 mph over the posted speed limit. The police officer issued the then-NFL rookie a ticket and summoned him to appear in Strongsville Mayor’s Court on July 3.
But per the citation, he wasn’t required to be there in person if he paid a $250 fine to waive the fourth-degree misdemeanor case. Here’s where things get interesting, though!

Any time you ask Shedeur about his relationship, he always denies the fact. Sure, he has the right to his privacy, but he always mentioned that his mother was the only lady in his life. But when the police stopped him last year, he was following a green Genesis clocked at 92 mph by the same officer, and the latter’s bodycam footage continuously referred to her as Sanders’ girlfriend.
Now, was it a legit girlfriend or a friend who happened to be a girl? We won’t know until Sanders himself reveals the truth. We would, of course, be thrilled for the Colorado alum. But this footage has surfaced once again through Kleiman, and you can make your judgment yourself. Check it out:

Sanders was less than fazed by the video resurfacing, probably because this wasn’t his first speeding ticket.
He was pulled over twice that very month for driving over the limit. The previous fine came on June 5, 2025, when the Ohio State Patrol pulled him over for speeding in Brunswick Hills. He was going at 91 mph in a 65 mph zone. Following this, he also received a fine worth $150.
However, Medina Municipal Court records show that he failed to pay the fine or appear for an arraignment on the agreed-upon date (in this case, June 16), after which the amount was increased to $269. While the Browns did not respond to the June 17 speeding, they did in this one.
Browns spokesman Peter John-Baptiste told Cleveland.com then that: “he is taking care of the tickets.”
Sanders, back then, stated that he takes these incidents as lessons learnt, saying, “I made some wrong choices, and I’ve got to own up to them. You know, I’ve made some not great choices. I learned.”
While Sanders has not been in much trouble lately, he’s not the only Brown who has found himself in a mess. Browns defensive end Myles Garrett was also found speeding over 100mph in a 60mph zone, and was fined about $250.
However, Sanders is also working on himself, which many may perceive as him trying to reshape fans’ perceptions of his personality.
Sanders “class act” gained him praise from schools
The Cleveland Browns are still searching for a long-term answer at quarterback, but Shedeur Sanders is already winning over the city for reasons off the field. A video of Sanders talking about his weekly community work recently went viral, showing a side of the young signal-caller that many fans hadn’t seen. In the clip, Sanders explains his tradition of supporting local students.
“I go to different schools once a week and just give the schools pizza. I just pay for it every week. The whole school,” he said.
Fans are calling it a “class act,” and honestly, it’s easy to see why.
Seeing him pop up at local spots like John Marshall High School has gone a long way with the community. This kind of genuine connection is starting to flip the script on Sanders. Not that Berea didn’t already prefer him more.
It wasn’t hard to see that the Dawg Pound would keep asking for Sanders until he finally replaced Dillon Gabriel as the starter. Even then, with his long throws, use of legs, and making decent decisions under pressure impressed many. But mainly, work in the field last year was rough.
Many times, he didn’t look comfortable, and it didn’t help as he struggled to find his rhythm while playing behind a shaky offensive line. The stat line tells the same, as he recorded 1,400 yards, 7 touchdowns, and 10 picks over 8 games.
The pressure on Sanders is now reaching a breaking point as the Browns enter a new era under head coach Todd Monken. On 92.3 The Fan, analysts Anthony Lima and Ken Carman debated whether the young quarterback has enough time to prove he is the long-term solution.
“I think Shedeur has to start this year, or he’s not going to get the chance,” producer John bluntly said. He argued that Sanders needs to start and succeed immediately, or the opportunity will simply vanish.
With Deshaun Watson’s massive contract still looming over the roster, Sanders still has a chance to affirm his position, or else the team will rely on the 2027 season’s draft pick to land a solid QB for their team. The clock is ticking for the former Colorado star.
