Atlanta’s pick at this year’s WNBA draft appears to be a Dream come true for the team’s newest star, Angel Reese.
The Dream picked South Carolina product Madina Okot with the 13th overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft, which drew plenty of excitement from Reese, who the team acquired as part of a trade with the Sky last week.
“YAY! MADINA!!! Another walking double double!! LET’S GOOOO!!!” Reese wrote, along with a happy face emoji with heart eyes, on X.

There does seem to be plenty of reason for Reese and company to be excited about the pick with the 6-foot-6 senior averaging a double-double for the Gamecocks during the 2025-26 season, scoring 12.1 points and pulling down 10.6 rebounds per game.
Okot also added 1.4 blocks and 1.3 steals while shooting 57.5 percent from the field.
She’ll be part of helping to fill the void with Brittney Griner heading to Connecticut via free agency.
Dream general manager Dan Padover suggested that Okot’s size was what led Atlanta to take her.
“I mean, at that size, to be able to crash the boards, she’s learned to stretch the floor, very talented and skilled,” he told reporters, according to reporter Wilton C. Jackson II. “…[She] just started playing basketball pretty recently, so we’re just starting to see what she can do. And I think the ceiling is very far away from where she’s at right now. And you know, Karl [Smesko] and the coaches are just really excited to work with her and get started.”

Okot said during her post-draft press conference that she was “just so excited for the moment” of getting picked.
Reese joins Atlanta after leading the WNBA in double-doubles with 23, and averaging 14.7 points and 3.7 assists per game.
