There’s no doubt that Bubba Wallace has been having a hell of a season so far. Twenty-three races into the season, he’s already got four top 5s and nine top 10s. And more importantly, Wallace managed to snap his 100-race-long winless streak after recently winning the Brickyard 400.
With NASCAR headed to Watkins Glen, only three races remain in the regular season. But the pressure’s off for the No. 23 driver while heading there as he’s already bagged a playoff spot. In fact, he recently revealed that, even with a chip on their shoulder, the Wallace faction was pretty calm.
Bubba Wallace Opens Up on the Secret Behind Their 2025 Success So Far
Well, how the 2025 season kicked off for Wallace was deemed one of the good ones for him. If you recall, he won the first duel race of the season at Daytona. This kicked off a season of consistent runs for the 23XI Racing driver.
Other than at Indy, he was even close to winning on several occasions, like how he ended P3 back-to-back at Homestead and Martinsville. But his highlight of the season came at Indianapolis. Wallace’s car was dominant all weekend, be it a P2 start in qualifying, or when he fended off the track’s defending winner, Kyle Larson, in two overtime restarts.
His streak of good runs even continued recently in Iowa, when Wallace finished sixth after starting in P15. But with winning his first crown jewel and being locked in the playoffs, Wallace seemed pretty calm after the Iowa race concluded.
In a recent interview, Wallace was asked how he felt racing with a “chip on his shoulder” before Indy. Being winless for more than two seasons, missing the playoffs last year, barely making it the year before that, and whatnot.
To which the No. 23 driver gave a rather unusual reply: “It was fine. You kind of let the smaller moments go and focus on the big picture, and that’s what it’s all about. Man, you get down to the last seven races and you are not in, you start racing scared. And that takes your mental side our of it. Truly, in a respectful way, not caring, this is where we end up.”

Well, the way Wallace is running in the season so far can end up being his best one yet in the Cup Series. But regardless, until the playoffs kick off in Darlington, he “couldn’t care less what happens” in the next regular season races.
Only time will tell what the playoffs have in store for him. Last season, Tyler Reddick took the team to their first-ever championship four appearance. Maybe Wallace can do the same this year?
