Sophie Cunningham just made a major decision on her WNBA career. After mulling over her options in WNBA free agency, the 6-foot-1 guard decided to extend her tenure with the Indiana Fever. The team announced on Sunday that Cunningham had agreed on a one-year deal with the Fever.
Cunningham will now return for at least one more season with Indiana. In 2024, the former Phoenix Mercury guard averaged 8.6 points on 46.9% shooting, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 steals in 25.2 minutes per game. She also knocked down 1.7 triples per contest on a career-best 43.2% clip.
Cunningham’s debut season with Indiana was cut short by injury, though. She tore the MCL in her right knee in August, preventing her from contributing to the Fever’s playoff push.

Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham gets baptized
It has been a very busy offseason for Cunningham. On top of her rehab and her contract negotiations with the Fever, the 29-year-old has also been attending to her multiple endorsement partnerships and public appearances. Cunningham also hosts a weekly podcast with reality TV star West Wilson entitled “Show Me Something.”
Cunningham, however, has not forgotten about her faith. She is a devout Christian who regularly shares Bible quotes on her social media platforms.
On Tuesday, Cunningham announced her decision to get baptized again. She posted a video of her baptism via her TikTok account.
“I got baptized when I was little but I was feeling a tug on my heart to do it on my terms as an adult! Such a fun, amazing day. Thank you Jesus 🙏” she captioned her post.

Cunningham now enters the new season with a renewed body, mind and spirit. She will be a key piece for the Fever and their championship aspirations in 2026.
