This week’s ATP 500 event in Barcelona suffered quite a blow with Carlos Alcaraz’s withdrawal, but it still features a very strong field going into the final stretch of the tournament. In addition, without Alcaraz the tournament becomes more unpredictabl and it’s almost impossible to guess who will be hoisting the trophy on Sunday.

ATP Barcelona Quarterfinal Predictions
Hamad Medjedovic vs Nuno Borges

Head-to-head: first meeting

Borges got to this stage in quite peculiar fashion, with an underhanded serve on match point against Tomas Etcheverry, but he was struggling a lot physically towards the end of that match and there’s some real question marks about his physicla condition ahead of this quarterfinal. Meanwhile, Medjedovic has been playing some excellent tennis all the way from qualifying and he might just make it to the semis here.
Prediction: Medjedovic in 3

Tomas Machac vs Andrey Rublev

Head-to-head: Machac 1-0 Rublev

Rublev might be far higher ranked, but he is having a very rough 2026 so far while Machac has played some good tennis at times and is even the only player to win a set against Jannik Sinner at a Masters 1000 event so far this year. This is a great opportunity for a big run for both players and it should end up being a very close match, decided by execution on the biggest points.
Prediction: Rublev in 3

Cameron Norrie vs Rafael Jodar

Head-to-head: Jodar 1-0 Norrie

While Norrie remains as solid as always, Jodar has been on a tear, coming into this match on a streak of seven consecutive wins including a maiden career title in Marrakech. He also beat Norrie with relative ease earlier this year in Acapulco and might well do it again and continue his spectacular breakthrough as he aims for an even bigger title here in Barcelona.
Prediction: Jodar in 2

Lorenzo Musetti vs Arthur Fils

Head-to-head: Fils 1-1 Musetti

Musetti’s momentum was completely derailed by his injury against Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open while Fils has been showing some promising signs in his return from injury. Given the current circumstances of both players, this is an extremely hard matchup to predict, but it should be an extremely close and high quality one, full of highlight shots and decided by a few clutch points.
Prediction: Musetti in 3
