GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) – Cedar Hollow Elementary was placed in secure status Friday after a mountain lion was spotted in a field next to the school.
Northwest Public Schools Superintendent Jeff Edwards confirmed the animal was seen Friday morning near the school, located on South Engleman Road and West Wildwood Drive.
The school will keep people inside for the rest of the day as a precaution. Edwards said appropriate authorities have been notified.
In a message sent to parents, the principal said the safety of students and staff remains their top priority.
