EXCLUSIVE: After playing Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones, Charles Dance has found a new family patriarch to portray, as sources tell Deadline that the Game of Thrones actor is in talks to join DC Studios’ The Batman Part II. If a deal closes, he would join Robert Pattinson, who is set to reprise his role as the Caped Crusader in the upcoming sequel that Reeves is writing and directing.
DC Studios had no comment on Dance joining the pic.
While unconfirmed, it is believed Dance would play Charles Dent, father to Gotham district attorney Harvey Dent, who will be played by Sebastian Stan. Scarlett Johansson is on board to play Dent’s wife.
The DC Studios pic is set to start production in the spring and will open in theaters on October 1, 2027. DC co-bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran are producing as is Dylan Clark.
Reeves’ The Batman was the first mega theatrical blockbuster for Warner Bros post-Covid after implementing a day-and-date release strategy on HBO Max. The movie starring Pattinson and Zoë Kravitz grossed $369.3 million at the domestic box office and $772M worldwide.Â
The role feels like a perfect fit for Dance, who is best known for playing Tywin Lannister on the hit HBO series Game of Thrones. Seen as one of the more powerful and treacherous men in all of Westeros, Dance now looks to show a similar side this time in Gotham City.
Dance most recently starred as Dr. Frankenstein’s father in Guillermo del Toro’s Oscar-nominated Frankenstein. He also recently appeared on the Peacock series Day of the Jackal.
He is repped by Tavistock Wood Management.
