BETHLEHEM, Pa. – A unique event brought healthcare professionals together Saturday in Bethlehem to talk about the latest innovations in the industry.
The ArtsQuest Center in Bethlehem was full of stands and speakers discussing the future of healthcare.
“It’s two full days of just thinking about healthcare innovation,” said Carry Gerber, Vice President of Marketing for Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital.
Gerber helped organize the 4th annual Disrupt Healthcare Innovation Summit.
“We have speakers from all over the country who are coming in for this two-day summit. We have students and clinicians who are here with posters showing their research,” said Gerber.
And they also had vendors displaying the latest technology in healthcare.
Like the company Strolll, which makes an augmented reality system to help improve patient motor skills.
“My job as the user is to visually scan, find that crate, safely navigate to it, and then I’m going to break the crate,” said Jonathan Reeves with Strolll.
Or the company Tonal, which makes an exercise machine specifically designed for medical use.
“We think it’s a great fit for the clinic, because it allows us to do, not only exercise and track data and make the work life easier for the clinician, we can build testing and functions that allow us to gauge performance over time and really show that progress,” said Sean Kinsman with Tonal.
The conference keynote speaker was Newton Cheng, former Director of Health and Performance at Google.
“All the people I’ve met are passionate, inspiring. They just want to help people, and I just feel honored to be around them,” said Cheng.
Gerber hopes that inspiration and passion will help these healthcare professionals go out and change the industry for the better.
“We’re hoping people walk away with connections and inspiration and curiosity and wanting to think differently and be bold,” said Gerber.
