LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A new arena proposal has entered the increasingly crowded fray to become the home of a Las Vegas NBA team.

Las Vegas Diamond Arena would be located on the south end of the Strip at the northeast corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Four Seasons Drive, across from Mandalay Bay, said Tom Letizia, a spokesman for the project.

“This isn’t just another arena project — it’s a global stage for the NBA,” Letizia said. “The league is looking for a long-term home in Las Vegas, and this site delivers everything needed to define the future.”

He described the proposed venue as state-of-the-art, 21,212-seat arena that could accommodate an NBA team, plus concerts and other global events.

There was no word on who exactly is spearheading this project or how it would be funded, though Letizia said it is not affiliated with any single casino or hospitality group.

Several parties have shared their interest in hosting an NBA team after the league announced in March that it would explore expanding to Las Vegas.

MGM Resorts floated T-Mobile Arena, which has hosted the NBA’s in-season tournament, while Las Vegas Mayor Shelley said she would pitch a vacant downtown site near the World Market Center to Commissioner Adam Silver.

Last week, Starr Vegas Development, Inc. unveiled what it called a $10 billion development proposal that would include a 25,000-seat basketball and concert arena. Starr Vegas says this campus would be built near Las Vegas Boulevard and Starr Avenue in the south valley.
