JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Wildfires are continuing to burn Tuesday morning across parts of Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia. Here’s a county-by-county update of the current conditions from the larger blazes that have already forced some to evacuate.
3:45 PM | Evacuation orders in Brantley County now also include: Warners Landing, Oaks Woodlands, Atkinson Road, Godberry Lane, Brushing Creek, Fort Mcintosh to Highway 520 on both sides of the road.
Shelters open include Little Memorial Church, Hortense Church of God, Southside Baptist Methodist Church, and the library.
Roads closed include: 82 W&E Lanes, Browntown Road, Hawks Landing, Nahunta Red light to Glynn County, 259 & 110E, Warners Landing, Atkinson Road, Godberry Lane, Brushing Creek, Ft. McIntosh to Highway 520 (Both Sides).
2 PM | A mandatory evacuation is in effect for Browntown Road and Hawks Landing in Brantley County. The Sheriff’s Office said people should avoid Waynesville, Atkinson, and Lulaton. Waynesville Primary and Atkinson Elementary are being evacuated to the Brantley County Middle School Gym, BCSO said.
9 AM | The Bostwick Library in Putnam County is closed Tuesday due to smoke in the area. The Palatka Library is open today at 601 College Rd, Palatka.
8 AM | West Tocoi Road and Eagle Creek, north of Bostwick, are closed due to low visibility, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office
8 AM | The U.S. Coast Guard issued a marine advisory for the St. Johns River due to zero visibility conditions on the water surrounding Bostwick and north into Clay.
Northeast Florida

On Tuesday morning, crews continued fighting the blaze that’s impacting Clay and Putnam counties. The Florida National Guard is also expected to help on Tuesday as drought conditions persist throughout the state.
Several Amtrak routes were either canceled or rerouted as smoke blanketed the tracks. Clay County leaders said sparks from a passing train appear to have ignited the fire early Sunday evening.
Roads have also been closed as some in the area have evacuated or are preparing to.

Red Flag Warnings in Effect
Drought conditions, low humidity, and winds have led to the National Weather Service issuing Red Flag Warnings for most of the inland regions in northeast, central, and southwest Florida, according to the Florida Forest Service. As wildfire dangers continue to grow, fire officials do not recommend any outdoor burning. As of Tuesday, 38 Florida counties are under county-wide burn bans.
Donations being accepted for firefighters battling Clay County blaze
Clay County Emergency Management is accepting donations for first responders at the Clay County Fairgrounds in front of Exhibit Hall 2. Donations are also being accepted at the Orange Park Town Hall.
Items like water, sports drinks, snacks are being accepted.
The county has opened a call center for any questions relating to the large fire. It’s 877-252-9362.
