ST. PAUL, Minn. — Mats Zuccarello and Yakov Trenin are out for Game 3 of the Minnesota Wild-Dallas Stars first-round playoff series.
Neither player was in warmups in advance of Wednesday night’s game. Zuccarello, who had three assists in Game 1, will miss his second game in a row with what the Wild said are the effects of an elbow to the head from Stars defenseman Tyler Myers early in Saturday’s game. Trenin was injured late in the first period of Monday night’s Game 2 when he was trucked in the neutral-zone on a perfectly timed check from Colin Blackwell as he received a pass from teammate Zach Bogosian.
Bogosian said he felt bad after the game and wishes he could take back the dangerous pass he sent Trenin.
Bobby Brink will take Zuccarello’s spot on the top line with Kirill Kaprizov and Ryan Hartman. Vladimir Tarasenko was there in Game 2, but it didn’t work. He’ll return to the third line with Danila Yurov and Nick Foligno.
With Trenin out, two-time Stanley Cup champion Nico Sturm will play for the first time in the series, lining up at left wing on the fourth line with Marcus Foligno and Michael McCarron.
