A horrifying video shows the moment a town was washed away by floodwaters raging down a mountain.
The incident happened in the village of Dharali in the catchment area of the Khir Ganga river in the Indian province of Uttarakhand.
The footage captured the moment a tributary burst its banks, completely destroying dozens of buildings lining the waterway. The wall of water sweeps across a large area as onlookers can be heard screaming in fear.
Entire houses can be seen being washed into the river at the bottom of the steep valley.
The flooding came after heavy rain in the region, with reports suggesting many people are feared trapped. At this stage it is unclear if anyone was injured or killed in the disaster. It was riggered by a cloudburst in the upper catchment area of the Kheer Ganga river.
After the initial torrent, the flood waters seem to recede back to the original water course.
Locals fear that 10 to 12 laborers might be trapped under the rubble.
